This mantra 'Imperfect Is Perfect Too' rang in my head in the days before I was about to give birth to my second baby.
I wanted a natural home birth with the wonderful Krishinda from Barcelona Midwife. But, as luck would have it in my final few weeks doctors felt my placenta wasn't 'functioning' properly and my baby wasn't growing at the proper rate and so that was off the cards. I was so disappointed and felt like everything was out of my control. I was being told I should have a Caesarian but pushed back (a very hard choice only done after getting a second opinion). Tricky times.
I compromised eventually by agreeing to be induced. Before I went in I decided that whatever the circumstances I was going to make this birth perfect for me and my baby (despite it being completely off plan!) There were loads more imperfect bumps along the way but I'm proud to say I happily gave birth to a beautiful boy a few hours later, naturally.
It wan't what I'd dreamed of but, you know what, it really didn't matter. It was (and he is) perfect. By the way, he's now a cheeky 2-year old giving me the total run around! ✨
I think this phrase is relevant to life in general and it's something I often come back to. It doesn't matter if you don't have Christmas like it's out of a magazine, or your parenting style is more scrappy than smooth, or you're late for work (again) with an outfit you picked up off the floor. Drop the pressure. You have the power to make things perfectly imperfect. Just the way you are.
